WordPress 3.4 for iOS Updated!

Automattic, the parent company of WordPress blogging platform, released an update for iOS’ WordPress app today that will introduce the enticing feature of push notifications for new posts, followers, comments, likes and a lot more. Thanks to this update, WordPress users will now be able to approve comments and reply to them via their mobile devices easily. Moreover, they will also be able to keep a track of the activity on their blogs. Earlier, the app did support notifications, but those were only meant for comments.

This feature is available in the latest 3.4 version of WordPress for iOS, which is available for use now. Users can access the notification section from the left-side navigation on their iPhones. For blogs powered by WordPress.com, this feature supports same notifications as supported by WordPress.com toolbar, such as followers, likes, badges, reblogs and stats. The notifications are customizable.

This means you can edit the settings in a manner that you are interrupted by only those notifications and updates that you care about. Since the app functions across various blogs, you can apply the muting options to entire blogs you completely want to shut down.

Another new inclusion in today’s release is blog comment moderation support. This lets you to view, reply to and moderate comments via your mobile screen, independent from your blogging platform.

As per the description in iTunes, all self-hosted as well as WordPress.com blogs support these features using the Jetpack plugin.

The new additions in this update are a big step further in managing WordPress over mobile platforms. Have you tried this innovation yet? If not, ask your PSD to WordPress developer to walk you through today!
